Albatross Anchor - the ship named Albatross was wrecked here while trying to cross the Marokopa Bar in 1916. No lives were lost, but the anchor remains here to remember the vessel and the historical importance of shipping to Marokopa.
Beach at Marokopa, where we ate dinner with Paki, our Mauri friend.
Strange sea creature.
The next day we continued our drive north, pausing only to take long, romantic walks on various beaches.
We passed Auckland right around rush hour - waiting in traffic was surreal! It's been so long since we've seen so many cars and roads with so many lanes!
