Our first night in a Kepler hut was mostly uneventful. We each slept on a top bunk, head to head, in a room for 8 people. With ear plugs we slept fairly well.
We started the morning with a breakfast of peanut butter on a tortilla and a quick visit to the lake.
The fern carpet was awesome.
Another side of the lake.
More river.
The forest makes you feel like a hobbit.
Or an orc. :)
Crazy looking spider bug.
Fog rolling in.
A poor beetle is infested with mites!
Our next hut - Iris Burn hut.
Near the hut there's a cool waterfall - this area was also overrun with sandflies.
After nightfall we did one more short walk to look at glow worms! They are tiny little worms that have glowing butts that attract flying insects. But, if a neighbor glow worm gets too close, they'll eat him, to! The brighter they glow, the hungrier they are.
