After getting over the loss of our trusted traveling companion (the van) we had 7 more days to explore Auckland and the area.
Downtown Auckland.
Such a magestic shag!
A moment later - gross!!!
Our first look at the space needle, which can be seen from just about anywhere in the city.
Up close - only a few blocks from our hostel!
At the Auckland Museum - an approximation of what a moa (giant flightless bird) would have looked like. They made this one out of emu feathers.
Picture of Mount Ngauruhoe erupting in 1974.
And again in 1926.
A copy of one of the victims of the Vesuvius eruption in Pompeii - whose shape was preserved in the volcanic ash as he/she died covering their face to prevent smoke inhalation.
A real moa skeleton!
More views of the space needle from around town.
