Lake Opuha

Further east we took a short detour to check our Lake Opuha, which was recommended to us by a kiwi staying at our campsite.  This is a man-made lake that was formed 17 years ago when farmers installed a dam.  However, due to the drought, the lake is expected to dry out completely in the coming months, if rain does not fall.  This, of course, would be very bad for farmers in the area.

Less than a quarter of the lake is left.

Someone must have thrown this rock in wetter times.

And a distant view.

Small road block...
