McLaren Vale wine region, Adelaide

I was surprised to learn that Australian wine is actually quite lovely!  We spent a morning wine tasting in McLaren Vale, one of the many wine regions around Adelaide.  Barossa Valley wine region is probably the most famous, but there are many gold ones.  I also learned that wine tastings are quite a bit different here.  First off, they've free, so that's good.  Second, they give you a list of about 20 wines to choose from, and they're all good!  We only went to 2 wineries, but it was enough to feel the effects.  And, we left with over 5 bottles between us, so I'd say it was successful!

One strange thing though, their Moscatos are pink and sparking.  Not sure how that came to be...

Rosemount Estate.

Wine berries.

Black Sheep winery.  Really good muscat liqueur!

Perfect rainy day for wine tasting!
