Within 12 hours of landing on Aussie soil I was holding a baby wallaby! Doesn't get any better than that!
Walli is a female wallaby. Her mother was tragically hunted for food by Aboriginals who did not notice (or care) that she had a Joey in her pouch. Walli was rescued and is currently being raised by a lovely family in Mandorah, a small community across the Darwin bay. Now she spends most of her time sleeping in a pillow case. She also enjoys being bottle fed and playing with the pet dogs in addition to long hops on the beach.
So many hermit crabs on the beach!

On Christmas Day we went back to Walli's family who were having a big pig roast. Jason and Kelly raised the pig themselves; they have a beautiful home full of critters (Walli, pigs and piglets, chickens, a rescued cockatoo, two dogs, and two kids. Our new role models!
Caryl finally couldn't resist any longer!
Those eyes and eye lashes are to die for!
You need to make a Christmas card with the Christmas tree behind you while you are holding the wallaby--you might even be able to piece the two pictures together to make it look like you are each holding a different wallaby! :) Love you blog! :) Love you!!
