Angkor Wat one last time and our last day in Cambodia

After the Tomb Raider temple we quickly drove to Angkor Wat - we wanted to see it one last time before we left.  We got there right before it closed, just in time to see the mass tourist exodus.

Like salmon, we fought our way upstream...

For one last magnificent view of the temple.

Leaving was a bit easier.

Back at our hotel, we celebrated an early Christmas with whatever this monstrosity was...

The next day we took a private car to the Thailand border.  This cost us $30. We then spent $1.50 each for the train to Bangkok from the border. So, overall cost for Siem Reap to Bangkok - $33.  The tourist bus was $25 per person.  The only other option would have been a Cambodian bus to the border, but they work much like taxi buses in Madagascar - stuff as many people on as possible, and leave whenever they're full.  I think our way was better.  Much quicker and much more comfortable!  We had also read that the straight through buses are nicknamed "scam buses", they drive very slowly so you get to Bangkok super late and then end up staying at whatever hotel they drop you off at.  No way we were going to sign up for that!

At the border.

Just over the border, a small boy pulling a huge cart.
