Wombeyan Caves

Tunnel on Duprez road, finished in 1899 and opened for traffic in 1900.

Pretty wide!

Lovely view from the lookout point!

Crossing the river.

We made it to the Wombeyan Caves.  Here is the Fig Tree Cave, the first of the three caves we visited, though there are many more in the area.

Inside the cave, some lovely curtain formations.

Frozen waterfall formation.

Kangaroo!

Majestic bird watched us eat lunch...

Majestic or not, he had no self-respect and begged us for a bite.

Amazing stalactites!

More curtain formations.

Nicely lit formations.

Bacon!  However, some jerk threw a rock many years ago and destroyed a piece of the rock.

The rocks have teeth!

Outside, bees and flowers.

Third and final cave.

Alpaca farm!

We then took a short hike around the area - the men were very interested in the abandoned quarry.

Momma kangaroo with Joey!

Another angle.

The lovely ride back.
