Canberra, Australia

We took a bus from Albian Park to Canberra, the capital of Australia.

Nest statue at the arboretum overlook.

New arboretum - many of the trees are still very small!

The Canberra university has one dorm building made out of shipping containers!

Next, we went to the Botanic Gardens, where we came upon a statue of Sir Joseph Banks.

Caryl is very fond of Mr. Banks!

A Banksia flower, aka bottle brush.

Cool seeds at the back of these leaves!

Yet another spider.

Interesting pine-like tree.

Cattails!

We took a lunch break in the gardens; this magpie got away with some peanuts!

Canberra tower.

Thorny Devil!  He's a desert dwelling creature and his thorns help guide falling water into his mouth when in rains.

After the botanic gardens we took a stroll along the river.  Canberra is a very peaceful town.  It feels a lot like Washington, DC, but with only a handful of people.
