Last days in Hanoi

We spent our last few days in Hanoi exploring the city.  We finally made it to the most important tourist sites to the west of the old town.

Picture 1: Dusters made out of chicken and rooster feathers.
Picture 2: A future feather duster roosting.
Picture 3: The wiring in Hanoi is crazy!  I have no idea how they do maintenance, nothing is organized.
Picture 4: A bridge designed by Eiffel.  Notice one of the scooters is traveling against the flow of traffic.
Picture 5: The presidential palace, another building that is forbidden to photograph.
Picture 6: Ho Chi Minh mausoleum.
Picture 7: One Pillar Pagoda.  The pagoda itself is beautiful, but currently they are remodeling, and everything around the pagoda is under construction, including the walkways and walls.
Picture 8: Near the pagoda is the Ho Chi Minh museum, which was pretty interesting.  It's both a history museum and an art museum, with modern and communist themed art.  It's very clean and nicely air conditioned, a nice relief after walking in the hot sun.
Pictures 9 & 10: Caryl buying lychees.
Pictures 11 & 12: Street vendors.
Pictures 13 - 17: Temple of Literature, where graduation pictures were being taken.  Everyone was very excited to show off their diplomas and take pics with friends.
Picture 18: Street barber.
Pictures 19 & 20: I am sorry to report that it is true, people in Vietnam eat dog meat.  We saw at least two places that were selling it in Hanoi.  One observation I do have though - there are some street dogs here, but most of them look very healthy and well fed, and people often interact with them, give them scraps, and pet them.  This is very different than many other countries we've been to, like Belize and Madagascar, where the streets are overrun by thin, unhappy, and sick dogs.  I don't know all the details of this situation, but I wonder is there's a link between eating dogs so there are fewer of them, and therefore the ones that are around are treated better and are happier.  Not that this is an ideal solution, and I still refuse to eat them.  On a side note, most people who have pet dogs have tiny Chihuahuas, probably so no one eats them...
Picture 21: They also eat chicken heads...
Picture 22: Creepy mannequin store.
Picture 23 & 24: Best Bun Bo (beef noodle soup) restaurant in Hanoi!  Thanks for the tip Francois!
Pictures 25: Famous red bridge.
Picture 26: Sleeper bus to Hue!
