We had planned to go to the Vatican the next day, but one of the metro branches was shut down, so we changed our plans. We spent the whole day just walking around with a tourist map, trying to see all the important things downtown. I think we would have needed many weeks to see it all...
I was so excited to show Caryl the Trevi Fountain, one of my favorite things from my last trip to Italy. I was so disappointed when we arrived and saw this:
As we soon learned, it seems like most of Rome is in scaffolds. Caryl and I joked every morning about what scaffolds we would see next.
