Nosy Komba - Lemur Island

From Hell-ville we hired a boat, driver, and English speaking guide (at least in theory) to take us to Lemur Island for the day.  So exciting!  We saw two groups of Lemurs.  The first was a domesticated bunch that lived in the trees around the park.  We hiked a short way further up the mountain to see the second group, which were a bit more feral, though they still jumped on us for bananas.  The males of this species are black and the females are brown.  The female are much larger and more dominant.  By the time we got to the park, the females in the first group had already eaten, so only the males came to play with us.  They are very gentle creatures who love to make funny faces and grunt.

Unfortunately my blogger application can't handle the crappy internet here, so I can only include one picture.  Here I am with two female lemurs from the wild group.
