On our second day in the park we also saw the Bat Cave, a sacred place for the Ankarana people. It was full of spiders, cockroaches, beautiful cave formations, and of course bats. The entry way into the cave was gigantic. Inside, narrow, barely marked paths wound through numerous chambers, some tiny, others deep and sprawling. It quickly became clear why the locals have worshiped in this location for hundreds of years.
