Driving through Madagascar

Here are a few pictures I took out of our cab window.  Most of Madagascar life goes on in the streets - since usually the only paved road in a village or town is the main thoroughfare, everyone sets up shops and service stations along the way.  This includes meat vendors, cell phone operators, veggie stands, rest stop restaurants (called hotely), anything a person may need, and plenty of pouse-pouse drivers (or zebu carts) to take you there. 

The second picture of what looks like a freight truck is actually a large taxi bus.  We never got to ride in one as nice as this...
