We decided to do a day trip to Oudong, a small city just north of Phnom Penh and the old capital of Cambodia (more on Oudong in my next post). We took a local bus; the trip took a little under an hour. It was very interesting to see how quickly the landscape changed from bustling city to rural countryside. Most of the land here (and most of Cambodia, I think) is pretty swampy and moist, so most of the houses are built on stilts. Even the spirit houses are on stilts! So I figured I'd share some of my favorite drive-by photos (I apologize for the dirty bus window smudges).
