Or last trip in Poland was to visit my good friend Justyna in Warsaw. It was really nice to see her again and to check out the Warsaw nightlife. :)
We went for a walk in the Lazienki park, which has a beautiful castle (though it was being renovated during our visit):
Close-up of a statue of a centaur:
I can't believe they put a plow on one of these!
Protesters outside of the Parliament building. I believe they want the government to investigate the theory that the Russians shot down the Polish plane carrying our president and government officials in 2010.
Their sign says: We are here every day. We are not always the same people. We have prayed here for 4 years for the return of the Smolenski Cross. We pray for Poland and for the Polish people, and to have a memorial for the 96 people that died on October 4, 2010 and for the truth. Be brave and stand with us.
I believe there used to be a cross here, but it was removed, citing separation of church and state reasons. Probably also because people would congregate here and protest. They now have a temporary cross that they set up. I admire their resilience.
Apparently, a Zombie apocalypse broke out during our stay. We saw them all over town:
The King's castle:
Old Town (mostly rebuilt after WWII):
Syrena, or mermaid, the symbol of Warsaw:
Beers on the square!
The castle at night:
Soccer stadium:
And some down time on the Wisla River (the same river also flows through Krakow):
We also went to the Copernicus Science Museum, but somehow I didn't take any pictures.
