Ah, Merida. So, after leaving Belize we drove straight to Merida, our last stop before heading to London Monday morning. Soon after arriving I started feeling sick. On Saturday we had an emergency visit with a Mexican doctor. It was quite an interesting experience, though I was pleasantly surprised; service was quick, staff was friendly, and thankfully, he prescribed the correct antibiotic and in a few days I was feeling much, much better. However, sight-seeing in Merida was somewhat limited even though we were there for a few days. Nevertheless, we were able to see a number of interesting churches, Spanish architecture, and some Meridian nightlife.

This relief sculpture shows the conquistadors - the big important guys - with the local "savages" - the smaller people on either side. Interesting depiction of the clash on the two cultures.
