We left Tana and Tosoa with heavy hearts, but also excited to continue our Madagascar adventure. Next we headed towards the west coast, ready to see the magnificent Baobabs. We first took a taxi-bus to Antsirabe, a lovely city in the highlands a few hours south of Tana. We spent the night with Tosoa's uncle Raymond, who was a wonderful host. He even gave us a tour of his factory, Acameca. Antsirabe is known as the beer capital of Madagascar. The local beer, THB, (Three Horses Beer - now owned by Coca-Cola) is made there. Acameca makes and fixes machines for THB and other factories in the area. While our visit was short - we headed out to Miandrovazo the next morning - we vowed to come back with Tosoa (and plan to do a tour of the THB plant).
The last few pictures show the drive to Miandrivazo. The roads in many parts of Madagascar are quite bumpy, as you can see in the last picture.
