Knoxville, Tennessee

There's so much wrong with this sign I can't even...

Sunsphere from the 1982 World Fair.

Tennessee Theater, completed in 1928, cost over $1 million to build at that time.  In 1999 it was declared the official theater of Tennessee, and $30 million was spent to restore it.  It reopened in 2005.

View from the Sunsphere base.

Inside!

World's Fair park.

200 West Hill Avenue, aka Blount Mansion.  This house was built in 1792 as the home of William Blout, governor of the Southwestern Territory.  The Cherokees, who had never seen glass before, called it "the House with Many Eyes."

In 1786 James White founded White Fort which later became the city of Knoxville in 1791.
